Martyn Parkes is a Graduate of The University of Hull and The RNCM, where he was subsequently appointed as a member of Staff between 2000 and 2006. Following this, he was appointed as a member of the Accompaniment team at the renowned Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester in 2006, a position which he still holds. He is in regular demand as a Coach, Accompanist and Orchestral Pianist and has worked with The BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, The Hallé Orchestra and Manchester Camerata, to name but a few. His recent projects include official accompanist for ‘The Kiri Prize’ in association with BBC Radio 2. He was also the official accompanist for BBC’s ‘Classical Star’ in 2007 and accompanist on the BBC Young Musician Finals in 2012 and 2014. Martyn also runs a small company called Impromptu Opera which offers bespoke musical entertainment throughout Europe, with his wife who is a Professional Opera singer.
